and Values

WA Menopause Clinic Coffee with Friends

Our History

At WA Menopause Clinic, our story begins with listening.

For years, women in Western Australia have shared their challenges navigating the complex and often misunderstood journey of menopause. Inspired by these stories, we founded our clinic to create a safe and supportive space where women are truly heard.

Built on the principles of evidence-based care and deep empathy, our clinic is here to honor the unique experiences of every woman, ensuring that no one has to navigate this stage of life alone.

Our Vision

We believe menopause marks the beginning of a new and powerful chapter in a woman’s life. At WA Menopause Clinic, our mission is to empower women to embrace this transition with confidence, understanding, and a renewed sense of vitality. Our vision is to create a world where every woman feels equipped with the knowledge, tools, and support to navigate menopause and thrive—not just physically, but emotionally and socially. This is a time to prioritize yourself, rediscover your strengths, and approach the future with optimism and courage. Together, we’re here to help you make this journey one of growth, self-discovery, and wellness.

Dr Melissa Marlow.jpeg

Dr Melissa Marlow

BSc (Hons), MBBS, nMRCGP, FRACGP, Palliative medicine certificate (UK)

Dr Melissa Marlow practises considered, unhurried medicine, grounded in experience, depth, and respect for the complexity of each woman’s health journey.

Trained in the UK, Dr Marlow qualified as a doctor over 20 years ago and specialised in general practice in 2009. After relocating to Australia with her husband—initially working in rural settings—she later settled in the Perth Hills, where she lives locally with her husband, two children, and two dogs on a bush block she proudly calls home.

Across decades of general practice, alongside the lived experience of raising a family, Dr Marlow has witnessed the cumulative burden of chronic disease—not only on individuals, but on families and communities. This has shaped her belief that meaningful care requires time, careful listening, and an understanding of the broader context in which health exists.

To deepen this work, Dr Marlow is currently undertaking further training in Lifestyle Medicine, strengthening the evidence base behind her holistic approach. This is particularly relevant in menopause care, where hormonal change intersects with physical health, emotional wellbeing, identity, and quality of life.

At WA Menopause Clinic, Dr Marlow is known for longer, in-depth consultations that allow space for detailed history-taking, thoughtful examination, and shared decision-making. Treatment plans are developed collaboratively and refined over time, with follow-up visits focused on reflection, adjustment, and progress rather than rushed outcomes.

Dr Marlow embodies WA Menopause Clinic’s philosophy that good medicine takes time—and that women deserve care that is attentive, grounded, and deeply human.

Dr Yan Peng

FRACGP, MD, PhD, DRANZCOG, BSc (Hons), Australasian Menopause Society Member

Dr. Peng is a dedicated family medicine physician specializing in holistic care for women navigating the challenges of perimenopause and menopause. With a strong passion for all aspects of women’s health, she focuses on perimenopause and menopause management, lifestyle medicine, weight loss, metabolic health, and contraception. Dr. Peng is fully qualified to perform Implanon and Mirena IUD insertions and removals, ensuring comprehensive reproductive healthcare for her patients.

Her approach to medicine is rooted in compassion and personalization. She is committed to empowering women with knowledge, enabling them to take charge of their health and well-being. Dr. Peng prioritizes staying at the forefront of medical advancements by attending regular educational events and reviewing the latest research, ensuring her practice aligns with the most current evidence-based guidelines.

Dr. Peng earned her medical degree from Notre Dame University in 2018 and gained extensive experience across a variety of specialties during her hospital rotations in Western Australia, including Emergency Medicine, General/Acute Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, Colorectal Surgery, and ENT. These experiences provided her with a broad and deep understanding of patient care. However, she identified a significant gap in the support and care available for women in the perimenopause and menopause phases of life, inspiring her to dedicate her practice to addressing this need.

Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Peng was a honeybee researcher, earning a PhD for her work in the field. Her background in research instilled a deep respect for evidence-based practice and an enduring curiosity that continues to drive her medical career.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Peng enjoys spending quality time with her family, cooking, gardening, and embracing sustainable living.
